The Tears of the Goddess

By Kyri Heliotrope

Walking up a thorn-filled path,
so strewn with rocks and stones;
I once chanced upon a spring so cool and clear,
and a lady amidst the scattered bones.

Oh yes, she was a luminescent white,
with hair the color of the darkened sky;
Along with eyes so stricken with grief,
they looked as if she was about to cry.

She glanced in my direction,
once, or maybe twice;
but the reason why she was so silent,
remained as mysterious and cold as ice.

Then it fell, one followed by another,
the tears of the lady clothed in stars,
then as if by some strange force,
she was in an instant, enclosed in foreign bars.

She tried to shout and reach,
all to no avail;
for as far as coercive religion is concerned,
the ships of oppression had already set sail.

As her final vestiges disappeared,
she left behind a single, brilliant tear;
along with a message to us, her children,
that we should never fight nor fear.

For her divine essence,
that which is imbibed in us all;
will never by any chance corrupt or fail,
for it is that “love” which conquers all!
